“Dave and I head up the ministry of a local church in Harare, Zimbabwe, reaching out to children at risk. The Michael Project is a residential children’s home in the suburbs of Harare caring for orphaned and vulnerable children. We also run a day care centre at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison for the babies and toddlers of incarcerated mothers, which gives them time to play, learn about Jesus, have breakfast and lunch before going back to the cells.

In addition to this we have also built a pre-school in a peri-urban community which feeds and teaches over 50 children and we are also training local church volunteers in child care. For the last 5 years we have also been working up in the Zambezi Valley, training volunteers from a number of churches in child care and support, with the aim of equipping them to reach out to the orphaned and vulnerable children in their various communities.

As you can imagine, this ministry is full time! We therefore live by faith and are blessed that we can feed and educate our own family thanks to funding from Christians committed to partnering with us in this work. We thank God for Stewardship, whose efficiency and promptness enables us to utilise funds that are given, when they are given. As our needs grow, it is great to know that we have a reliable and trustworthy source to direct people to.

The security of our financial support leaves us free to focus on this valuable ministry. Recently it has also given us the awesome privilege of seeing a young boy suffering terribly from the ravages of HIV/AIDS being rescued from a community, where he was abused and abandoned, come into our home and through love and care and proper medical attention regain his strength, his health and his desire to live. We praise God for his amazing grace.“
