Meet the Stewardship Money team
The Stewardship Money team is available to speak at Sunday Services, Saturday seminars or midweek meeting about giving, materialism, helping people with debt and personal money management
Steve Pierce: Head of Stewardship Money
Steve was ordained as an Anglican minister in the Diocese of Liverpool in 1985. He was a curate in Huyton on the outskirts of the city before moving to spend 11 years as Vicar of Christ Church with Holy Trinity Walton Breck in the Anfield and Everton districts of Liverpool. In 2000 Steve started work as a Resources Officer for the Diocese, helping churches with giving and capital fund raising. Steve moved to Stewardship in July 2006 and works one day a week for the Diocese of Liverpool.
Steve is married with three children. Rock climbing and rugby are past pleasures replaced by hill walking and gardening. Everton FC is an enduring passion; a vintage British motorbike awaits his retirement.
Richard Talbot: Head of Volunteering
Richard worked as an an IT Manager for the pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline for 22 years. Following redundancy in 2001 Richard decided he wanted to help people in debt and trained as a debt adviser. He worked as a volunteer on the Credit Action debt help line initially and took over as manager in May 2002. Richard also established a volunteer programme for people who had a passion for helping others manage their finances more effectively and provide help for those who were suffering the pain of debt.
Richard works one day a week as a volunteer in his local Citizens Advice Bureau. He is married with two children, is involved with his local church and loves walking, cycling, traveling and sailing.
Tony Cunliffe: Volunteer Manager
Tony trained as an accountant but, he tells us, he is alright now! He worked in accountancy practices and in industry before redundancy prompted a move to the financial services industry. He was financial director of a brokerage company and then worked as an IFA. While recuperating from serious illness in 2003 Tony read Keith Tondeur's book Your Money and Your LIfe which made a lasting and life changing impression. Tony felt called to move into money education, first becoming a Credit Action volunteer and then appointed as Volunteer Manager. He has worked for Stewardship since 2006.
Tony is married with three sons. He is an active member of his church, enjoys tennis and early morning five a side football at his local health club. Unlike most Manchester Utd. fans he lives in Manchester.
Fiona Mearns: Administrator
Fiona graduated in English Literature but has found herself a natural home in Administration of one sort or another, including a 5 year spell at the House of Commons. She joined Stewardship in 2005, initially as our Administration Manager based in the Loughton office, but this year has moved into a new role of working with our Stewardship Money team. Fiona also continues to be responsible for organising Stewardship seminars and conferences, along with training for volunteers and Myles Wilson’s Funding the Family Business training.
She and her husband, Keith, live in rural Perthshire where the noisiest thing is the dawn chorus and a waterproof is essential clothing.
