Debt affects every community and probably every church. Debt undermines joy and breeds fear; it closes down lives, shatters relationships and hinders discipleship and generosity.

Debt is a major issue of pastoral care and spirituality yet, understandably, many churches don't know how best to respond - or even if it is an issue for them. A single church can use our self led resource, How the church can help people in Debt.

For larger groups the training session Dealing with Debt opens the lid on a taboo subject. It is flexible, run as a single evening seminar or a full day interactive training event or somewhere in between. Areas considered include:

• the causes and effects of debt
• types of credit and the problems faced by low income families
• a biblical perspective on debt
• case studies of indebtedness
• options for churches wishing to take local action
• available resources and further training
