Stewardship Volunteer
Stewardship Volunteer is our core volunteer role for which all applicants should apply. The aim of this role is to promote money education, encourage a biblical perspective on money, and provide help for those within your local church and local community suffering from the pain of debt, feeling anxious about money or looking for financial freedom.
While money shouts loud and long in society it still speaks in a whisper in the local church. Think when you last heard a sermon in church or attended a bible study on the subject of money. It was probably about increasing giving because the church was short of money!
- awareness of the problem of debt and the sources of help and support. Admitting to money problems is never easy.
- awareness of the need for good money management. Anxiety around money undermines faith, happiness and giving.
- awareness of the importance of regular planned giving as a natural part of our Christian discipleship.
- awareness of money as spiritual issue and part of our relationship with God.
The full Stewardship Volunteer role description suggests different ways in which this might be done. It can be as simple as putting up a poster in the church to raise awareness of the problem of debt or planning with your pastor a sermon on godly money management.
On average during the course of a year we estimate that the time commitment will be about one or two hours per month
