How Can the Church Help People in Debt?
Debt touches all communities. The stress, anxiety, fear and isolation of debt does not distinguish between suburbs or inner city, market town or rural village; nor between church or community. People may not talk openly about the problem but freedom from debt is a real need. Debt destroys lives, gets in the way of faith and trust and makes generosity difficult. This seminar from Stewardship Money helps churches explore:
How Can the Church Help People in Debt? is a flexible seminar. Allow 75 minutes for the core material, a debt presentation with plenty of opportunity for questions. The material is very flexible and if more time is available there is scope for case studies and discussion.
- An individual church can host the workshop but it is always helpful to invite other churches in the area. Run it as:
- a brief, introductory presentation for a church council, deacons meeting or as an agenda item of a leadership meeting.
- a more detailed two hour evening or weekend session allows time for case studies, discussion and more questions.
